Criminals Use Chilli Powder to Rob Jeweller in Delhi

New Delhi, 31 August 2022: The Delhi Police has recently been attempting to find four criminals for disguising as policemen and robbing jewelry on Wednesday.

According to police officials, the incident took place early in the morning in Paharganj, Delhi. The four culprits had robbed executives of a courier firm by sprinkling red chili powder in their eyes. They had then taken a shipment of jewelry worth Rs 2 crore from the executives, before fleeing the scene.

“We had received a complaint regarding the incident from the neighborhood residents who said that some individuals had come and robbed the victims by spraying red chili powder in their eyes,” said Shweta Chauhan, DCP (Central).

Upon investigation, it was discovered that two courier company officials were toting two suitcases and a box containing pricey jewelry. To deliver the item, they were traveling to Chandigarh, they said.

Later, the four robbers who pretended to be police officers stopped them and began questioning them. The two of the suspects hurled chili powder and took all the ornaments, she claimed.

The DCP also added, “the approximate value of the jewelry was about Rs 2 crore and the rest of the value is being verified as the consignment was received from different places such as Bombay, Ahmedabad, Surat etc.

The police have filed charges of robbery, criminal intimidation, and assault case has been filed against the criminals. Investigations are underway to find the culprits.
