Dalit children’s death: Court extends custody of accused

CHANDIGARH: A CBI court on Monday extended the police custody of five accused, including two lawyers, for their alleged role in setting the house of a dalit on fire resulting into death of two children in Sunped village of Faridabad district.

Panchkula’s CBI court extended the custody of the accused by seven more days while asking the probe team to produce them on November 30. While producing the accused in the court, the CBI counsel sought custody of the accused on the grounds that more details related to the case were to be ascertained from them.

The incident occurred on October 20 when two minor children were burnt to death and their parents injured. Police had booked 12 persons from upper caste families in the matter. Later investigations were handed over to CBI, which arrested five more persons, including two lawyers Jagat Kumar and Adal.

Other accused arrested by CBI included Joginder Singh, Nonihal Singh, and Desraj Singh.

Total number of persons in CBI custody in the case has reached 12.
