The much awaited 3D sequel and visual effects saga ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of the Apes’ which released this Friday has climbed strong at the Indian Box Office with a stunning RS 8.8 Crores Net!

Thursdays paid previews coupled with the good weekend collections have brought the grand total to RS 8.8 Crores Net (RS 0.5 Crores + Rs 2.1 Crores + Rs 3 Crores + Rs 3.2 Crores) despite the presence of local film competition!

Opening to a dazzling 70 million plus weekend overseas, the sequel directed by Matt Reeves and starring the king of motion capture Andy Serkis along with Oscar Nominee Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russel has been overwhelmingly critically acclaimed, with 90% on rotten tomatoes and firmly positive reviews across the globe.

Interestingly not only the film’s use of visual effects but even the thought-provoking characterization of both humans and apes have been frequently commented upon by critics. For the hard core action fans, the special effects have gone above and beyond expectation by Oscar winning WETA Digital creating a never seen before ape community through motion capture.

Most critics are already rooting for the film and special effects to bag few Oscars, and Andy Serkis seems to be the actor who surely seems to be the strongest Oscar contender this year. The early buzz also has given rise to talks for another sequel. It seems this latest installment in the franchise is beyond expectations and predictions are on for another film to continue Caesar’s tale.
