DDA TAKES A POSSESSION OF RS 600 CRORE, THANKS LG DELHI INTERVENTION

On LG’s directions, DDA takes possession of prime property at Jhandewala, valued at Rs. 500 crores

· Property was in illegal possession for about 2 months; LG directs Chief Vigilance Officer, DDA to inquire and fix responsibility

· LG orders inquiry to probe the angle of collusion, if any, and bring the culprits to book within a week

On Lt. Governor Sh. Najeeb Jung’s directions, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), in a swift action this morning, took possession of a prime property at E-2, Jhandewala (with a total built up area of approx. 1,20,000 sq. ft. in plot of around 5000 sq. yds.),whose value is estimated to be at Rs. 500 crores approx.

Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, vide order dated 12th April 2016, in a civil appeal no. 3783, passed orders authorizing the DDA to take possession of the property at E-2, Jhandewalan. The property at E-2, Jhandewalan has a built up area of 1,20,000 sq. ft. in a plot of around 5000 sq. yds. The property comprises ground floor, mezzanine floor, first floor, second floor and third floor.

As per Lt. Governor’s directions, on 10th June at around 12.30 PM, at the instance of VC DDA Shri Arun Goel, a team of senior officers of DDA comprising Principal Commissioners, Land Management and Land Disposal Department, the Chief Legal Advisor and other senior officers of the DDA, in the presence of senior officers of Delhi Police, took over the possession of the entire building on site. One of the Directors of the Company that had occupied the property formally handed over the possession of the entire premises to the team of DDA officers.

Despite the Apex Court orders, the property was in illegal possession for about 2 months. The Lt. Governor Shri Jung has directed Chief Vigilance Officer, DDA to inquire and fix responsibility of delinquent officers within a week so that strict action is taken against those found guilty. The Lt. Governor has particularly asked the CVO to probe the angle of collusion as part of his inquiry and bring the culprits to book.
