Mumbai (India), 9th May 2023: It’s been eight years since Shoojit Sircar’s Piku enchanted audiences on the big screen. The film, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Irrfan Khan, was released in theatres on May 8, 2015.
In honour of Piku’s eighth anniversary, the actress released three photographs from the set of the film, along with a sweet letter. The first image shows the trio posing against a cardboard car, followed by a still from the film in which they appear. Deepika is seen posing for a photoshoot with Irrfan Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the third image.
Deepika Padukone along with the post also attached a caption that expressed how much she misses Irrfan Khan, who died of cancer on April 29, 2020.
Deepika wrote, “It’s been 8 years since this gem of a movie released with these 2 very special people. And if I could relive this experience all over again, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Irrfan, I miss you!”
She added, “Amitabh Bachchan, Shoojit Sircar and Juhi Chaturvedi (scriptwriter of Piku), I love you. To everyone who made this film possible, thank you for your energy. #Piku.”
Deepika Padukone plays Bhaskor Banerjee’s (Amitabh Bachchan) daughter Piku in the film. For their journey from Delhi to their ancestral home in Kolkata, the duo is joined by the owner of a tax company, Rana (Irrfan Khan).
In 2016, Amitabh Bachchan received the National Award for Best Actor for Piku, while Juhi Chaturvedi received the awards for Best Original Screenplay and Dialogue. Jisshu Sengupta, Rupsa Banerjee, and Akshay Oberoi also appeared in Piku.
Deepika Padukone will next be seen in the Hindi adaption of ‘The Intern’, with Amitabh Bachchan. They have Nag Ashwin’s ‘Project K’ lined up as well. Prabhas also plays the lead in this next movie.
