New Delhi(26/10/2019): Just a day before Diwali, the air quality dropped to season’s worst on Saturday which is due to fall in speed of the wind affecting the dispersion of dust particles. “The decrease in wind speed has started to negatively influence Delhi’s air quality by drastically decreasing ventilation coefficients and thereby affecting dispersion,” said the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).

Today at 10 AM, the overall air quality of Delhi was docking at 305, stated SAFAR.

The organisation also predicted that on Diwali, the air quality will get even worse from what we are facing a day before. The AQI is expected to be around 324 by tomorrow.

How does AQI matter? An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ”good”, 51 and 100 ”satisfactory”, 101 and 200 ”moderate”, 201 and 300 ”poor”, 301 and 400 ”very poor”, and 401 and 500 ”severe”.

Also on Saturday, BJP leader Vijay Goel slammed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for not taking requisite steps to combat the pollution.

“Pollution has increased in Delhi. In the last five years, Arvind Kejriwal has done nothing to reduce air pollution in the national capital. It was only the Centre who has taken steps like constructing bridges, highways and widened roads for traffic management and decongestion,” Goel said today.

He also slammed the government of Delhi for re-introducing the Odd-Even scheme in Delhi in saying, “They have introduced this scheme just to be in the news. Odd-Even will again cause a problem for the people.”
