Police Arrests Councillors Who Sat On Dharna
New Delhi, 8th June. Delhi BJP’s Municipal Councillors of all three Civic Bodies this morning went to meet the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal at his residence. Wednesday is the Chief Minister’s Public Meeting Day and therefore the Councillors went to meet him during his Janta Darbar to seek his cooperation towards the Civic Bodies in public interest. After the refusal of entry in the CM residence the Councillors sat on Dharna outside the main gate of the residence. BJP’s female Councillors requested the security guards that if the CM does not want to meet the big delegation of Councillors he could well meet only the female Councillors. After the rejection of this proposal too, the female Councillors collected glass bangles from amongst themselves and gave them over to the security guards for handing over to the Chief Minister. Mayors, Leaders of the House & Chairman Standing Committees of the three Civic Bodies along with state BJP General Secretaries & other Councillors sat on Dharna from where the Delhi Police forcibly evicted and arrested them.
Prominent Amongst the Councillors Present were Shri Subhash Arya, Dr. Sanjeev Nayyar, Smt. Satya Sharma, Shri Shyam Sharma, Shri Sanjay Jain, Shri Vijay Prakash Pandey, Shri Shailender Singh Monty, Shri Pravesh Wahi, Shri Jitender Chaudhary, Smt. Rekha Gupta, Shri Ashish Sood, Shri Harsh Malhotra, Smt. Savita Gupta, Dr. Mahender Nagpal, Shri Rajesh Bhatia, Smt. Mira Aggarwal, Shri Tarachand Bansal, Smt. Shashi Prabha Solanki, Smt. Meenakshi, Shri Khushi Ram, Shri Rajkumar Dhillon etc.
Interacting with the media persons at the Dharna spot Shri Subhash Arya said that despite all shortcomings the Civic Bodies are providing exemplary service to the people of Delhi. He said that it is really sad to note that the man who vouched for Swaraj is today going all out to suppress the voice of the people, it will be better if the CM instead of maligning the Civic Bodies concentrates on improving the shortcomings in water & power supply in Delhi.
In their separate address before the Councillor sitting on Dharna the three Mayors Dr. Sanjeev Nayyar, Smt. Satya Sharma & Shri Shyam Sharma condemned the Kejriwal Government for denying proper funds for the Civic Bodies, non implementation of Fourth Delhi Finance Commission recommendations and for political conspiracy to malign the Civic Bodies. They said that be it at the time of last Civic Employees strike or today the Kejriwal Government constantly says that Delhi’s sanitation is poor, which is an insult of the hard work of Safai Karamcharis of Delhi.
Shri Ashish Sood said that BJP Councillors have repeatedly tried to meet the Chief Minister collectively, last year too we came and it is really shocking that today is the Chief Minister’s Public Meeting day and he is not even ready to meet us in his Janta Darbar which is a proof of his biasness.
Smt. Rekha Gupta said that it is really regrettable that the Chief Minister did not agree to meet even the women Councillors. We did not wish to make any political demand all that we wanted to ask the Chief Minister was the release of old age and widow pensions.
