- In 2012-2013, Assembly elections were held in many States, and in 2014, Parliamentary elections were held, and Modiji should clarify whether he took Rs 65 crore for the election expenses of t he BJP, or he collected it for himself—Ajay Maken.
- Modi has not appointed a Lok Pal because he fears that an independent enquiry by the Lok Pal on Modi receiving Rs 65 crore from two industrial groups would have exposed a big corruption scandal—Ajay Maken.
- Modi is filling the CBI with Gujarat Cadre officers thinking that if a Supreme Court-monitored CBI enquiry is directed on the Rs 65 crore corruption scandal, he could be saved—Ajay Maken.
- Shri Narendra Modi wants to make Indian economy cashless, but would he explain how he received Rs 65 crore, either by cheque or cash?—Ajay Maken.
NEW DELHI, Dec. 27–Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Ajay Maken today inaugurated the Congress party’s two-day “Bhanda Fod” campaign (December 27 and 28) at 280 Block Congress Committee levels, metro stations, over-bridges and fly overs to enlighten people about Shri Narendra Modi’s corruption of accepting Rs 65 crore from the Aditya Birla Group and the Sahara Group. The Congress workers carried playcards and banners to expose Modi’s corruption. It may be recalled that Congress vice-president Shri Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue of Modi receiving Rs 65 crore from the Aditya Birla group and the Sahara Group at a rally in Gujarat recently, and sought Modi’s reply.
Speaking at the “Bhanda Fod” campaign at the Chandni Chowk metro station, Shri Ajay Maken said Shri Modi talks about “Na khaunga, na khane doonga”, but he now faces corruption charge of accepting Rs 65 crore from the Aditya Birla Group and the Sahara Group, and why is he silent on this issue. Shri Maken said the whole country is now waiting for Shri Modi’s explanation on the Rs 65 crore corruption scandal.
Shri Ajay Maken joined the Congress workers in the “Bhanda Fod” campaigns at many other areas. The Congress workers carried playcards and banners with slogans such as “Sahara Birla Se Le Li Thaili, BJP ki Ganga Maili”, “Modi-Mitra poojipathiyon me jodtod, bhratschar ka hoga Bhanda Fod”, “Mitr Poojipathiyon se paise payen, imandari ka path padayen”, “65 crore ki le li thaili, BJP ki Ganga maili” etc.
Shri Ajay Maken said Congress vice-president Shri Rahul Gandhi had asked a question to Shri Narendra Modi at a rally in Gujarat about the Rs 65 crore he received from the Aditya Birla Group and the Sahara Group, about which there is evidence. Shri Maken said the Income Tax department had raided the Aditya Birla group on 13 October, 2013, and a laptop of Shri Shubhendu Amitabh, group vice-president of the Aditya Birla Group, along with other documents ware seized. An email found in the laptop dated 16th November, 2012 states: “Gujarat CM-25 cr (12 Done; rest?)”.
Shri Maken said the Income Tax Department sought access to the remaining CBI documents seized during the raid of which access was finally granted to the Income Tax department only through the Supreme Court, vide orders dated 25th July, 2014 after the Modi Government came to power. Shri Maken said in this e-mail, it was clear about the Gujarat Chief Minister getting Rs 25 crore. It may be recalled that in 2012, Shri Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. On 27th February, 2014 the Deputy Director (Investigation) of the Income Tax Department, in his directive, had noted that this case was very serious, and this case should be investigated deeply. On 25 July, 2014, when Modi was in power, the Supreme Court had ordered the Income Tax department to investigate the documents seized by the CBI.
Shri Maken said the Income Tax Department raided the Sahara Group on 22nd November, 2014, six months after the Modi Government took office. Documents seized by the Income Tax Department state cash payments to “Modiji” 9 times over six months, totaling Rs 40.1 crore”. This document dated 22nd November, 2014 is duly signed by Income Authorities and witnesses. The entries contained therein date-wise are:
- Modiji 30 October 2013 2.5 cr
- Modiji 12 November 2013 5.1 cr
- Modiji 27 November 2013 2.5 cr
- Modiji 29 November 2013 5 cr
- Modiji 06 December 2013 5 cr
- Modiji 19 December 2013 5 cr
- Modiji 13 January 2014 5 cr
- Modiji 28 January 2014 5 cr
- Modiji 22 February 2014 5 cr
It may be recalled that in 2012-2013, Assembly elections were held in many States, and in 2014, Lok Sabha elections were also held. Modi should clarify whether he collected the money for the BJP, or for himself. Shri Maken wanted to know why the Modi Government has not handed over the investigation of the Rs 65 crore corruption to an independenty agency, though it has been in power for two and a half years?
Shri Maken said on the one hand Modiji is trying to make the economy of the country cashless, and he should answer whether he received the Rs 65 crore in cheques or cash?
He also wanted to know why Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has not yet constituted the Lok Pal, perhaps fearing that if the Lok Pal makes an independent enquiry about this complex case, a very big corruption scandal would be exposed.
Shri Maken said the needle of suspicion is pointed towards the Modi Government, and he also wanted to know why Modiji was appointing a large number of Gujarat Cadre officers in the CBI, because they may save him if a Supreme Court-monitored CBI inquiry is ordered in the case.
