Delhi Government Bags State Leadership Award in EV Policy at the IESA Industry Excellence Awards 2023

New Delhi; 05.04.2023: India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) celebrated the spirit of innovation and excellence at its Industry Excellence Awards 2023, honoring the trailblazers who have significantly contributed to India’s energy storage industry. Shri Suresh Prabhu, former Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Railways Commerce & Industry, Chemicals and Fertilizers, Environment and Forest and Power, Govt of India, and a distinguished G20 and G7 member graced the gala night with his presence. The grand ceremony held in New Delhi witnessed the announcement of the winners, with the Government of Delhi winning the prestigious State Leadership Awards- EV Policy for its remarkable efforts in promoting sustainable transportation through its Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy. The Delhi government’s comprehensive and ambitious EV policy aims to position the city as a leader in sustainable transportation by incentivizing the adoption of electric vehicles, installing charging infrastructure, and promoting battery manufacturing. The award acknowledges the government’s outstanding contribution to creating a supportive ecosystem for EVs in India.

 

Suman Mishra, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, has been felicitated with the Women Leader of the Year Award. Vikramadithya Gourineni, from the Amara Raja Group, was named Emerging Leader of the Year – Energy Storage, while the World Bank received the Financial Institutions of the Year award. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) were recognized with the IESA Industry Excellence Awards on Battery Safety.

 

Congratulating the awardees, Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, President, India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) said “It was a privilege to get an opportunity to honour the tremendous behind the scene work done by various policymakers and bureaucrats from various ministries and acknowledge their achievements. I would also like to congratulate the start-ups, world-class organisations and energy leaders on their win in this prestigious award programme.”

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility received the Company of the Year award in the EV 3 Wheeler category, while Amara Raja Group was honoured with the Company of the Year award in the Energy Storage category. In addition, Subir Chakraborty, from Exide Industries Limited, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

 

Commenting on the event, Ashok Thakur, Director of Strategic Initiatives, Customised Energy Solutions (CES) said, “India is at the cusp of world’s biggest clean energy transition. And, this award platform is all about celebrating the excellence of people who have put their efforts, their soul and almost everything to make it happen.”

 

Moreover, the Governments of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Odisha were honoured with the State Leadership Awards for their significant contributions to the energy storage industry in India. The Government of Tamil Nadu was honoured with the State Leadership Awards- Manufacturing for its outstanding contribution to the energy storage industry in India. Tamil Nadu has established itself as a manufacturing hub for renewable energy and storage systems, contributing significantly to the growth of the sector in the country. The Government of Telangana won the State Leadership Awards- Startups and innovation for its encouragement of entrepreneurship and innovation in the sector. The State Leadership Awards in skill development recognized the Odisha government’s efforts in building a skilled workforce that can drive the growth of the energy storage industry in the country.

 

Powered by CES, IESA Industry Excellence Awards was started in 2017, an initiative to recognize the perseverance, innovation and achievements of organizations involved in the energy storage landscape in India. These awards celebrate the value these organizations have created for the end consumers in the country.
