New Delhi, 24 May 2022: BJP has retaliated against the Delhi Government’s claims of failing to pay MCD worker’s salaries stating that they have raised allegations without checking facts.

The Aam Aadmi Party said that even after the Unified MCD, the employees have not been paid. MCD AAP in-charge, Durgesh Pathak accused, “MCD teachers have not been paid salaries for five to six months. Safai Karamcharis have been waiting for payments for two to three months. Hundreds of MCD employees, including junior engineers and assistant engineers, have not been paid salaries for five to six months.”

He also said that the BJP has been running the MCD for 17 years and there have been times when the salary funds were not even available. When the people wanted a fresh MCD election, they unified the MCD further delaying the elections, he added.

While the Delhi BJP’s spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor rebuked the Delhi government leader stating that they should get their facts straight before accusing them. He said, “Soon after the formation of the unified MCD, the new commissioner has announced that releasing salary arrears to employees is our priority and soon a part of arrears will be issued.”

He reasoned that the MCD has a lack of funds due to the Delhi government’s habit of cutting funds and “till date it has not released even a penny out of the 2022-23 first quarter fund of the MCD.”
