Delhi Govt to Pay Rs5000 to Construction workers due to ban on construction projects in Delhi

New Delhi, 2 November 2022: Delhiā€™s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal has ordered the labour department to give each construction worker, Rs 5,000 as financial assistance during the city’s ban on construction-related employment to combat pollution.

“Due to pollution, construction has been halted throughout Delhi. During this time when construction activities are prohibited, I have instructed Manish Sisodia, the labour minister, to provide each construction worker with Rs 5000 per week in financial support,ā€ he said.

This development came after the air quality deteriorated to “severe” on Saturday, the central air quality panel ordered the responsible authorities to impose a ban on all construction and demolition activities throughout the Delhi-NCR region, with the exception of significant projects, under the third level of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP III).
