New Delhi, 4 October 2022: The Delhi High Court has recently ordered a man to provide “hygienic and decent quality burgers” to two orphanages for quashing an FIR filed against him by his former wife for rape, stalking, and criminal intimidation.

The complainant was married to the man, and a single-judge panel of Justice Jasmeet Singh canceled the FIR against him, noting that the couple had “temperamental difficulties due to which they decided to part ways.”

On July 4, the parties came to an agreement at the Saket Courts Mediation Center in New Delhi. The parties additionally said before the high court that they entered into the agreement “with their own choice, initiative, and without any fear, force, or coercion.” The petitioner’s ex-wife stated that she had no issues with the FIR being dismissed. The court declared, “In light of this, the accusations under Section 376 IPC can be annulled.”

However, the judge pointed out that the case had been dragging on since 2020 and that the police and legal system had wasted a lot of time that could have been used for more pressing issues. Justice Singh stated, “Therefore, the petitioner must provide some social good for the society.”

The man testified in court during the hearing that he owns two burger joints, “Burger Singh” and “Wat-aBurger,” in Noida and Mayur Vihar. The individual further committed to supplying two orphanages with hygienic and high-quality hamburgers.

Additionally, directives were given to the investigating officer at the Sarita Vihar police station to make sure the food is prepared according to COVID guidelines in a clean, safe atmosphere. Further instructions were given to the petitioner and the investigating officer, and on November 21 the court set the matter for compliance.
