Delhi Metro creates landmark, starts Heritage Line between ITO-Kashmere Gate

The Delhi Metro created a landmark for the capital, as the ITO – Kashmere Gate ‘Heritage Line’ was thrown open to public on Sunday.

It has three stations — Delhi Gate, Jama Masjhid and Red Fort . The new line, which is basically an expansion of the Violet Line that runs between Faridabad and ITO presently, will take considerable load off the Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar stations of the Yellow Line.

The new line was flagged of by Union minister of Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, through video conferencing at Metro Bhawan here.

The three stations of this line are all underground and have been designed in accordance with the heritage of the area to provide glimpses of its rich past.
Metro connection to this part of Delhi will revive the market areas of Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar in future. This connect will further help in boosting the economy in this part of Delhi as well as nation, said Naidu.
