#Delhi has paid its share for construction of EWPE: PWD Min

he Delhi government today said it had already paid its share of amount for construction of Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways, which aims to decongest the roads of national capital, and won’t pay more money for completion of the project.

In a letter to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, Delhi PWD Minister Satyendra Jain said that three concerned states — Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana — were to share the cost of construction in the ratio of 50:25:25 respectively.

“The original cost of the project was Rs 844 crore, which has escalated to Rs 3589.56 crore after four revisions. Initially, Delhi’s share was Rs 422 crore and Delhi paid its share upto the 1st revision of cost i.E. Rs 653.50 crore within the prescribed time i.E. 2006,” Jain said.

Eastern Peripheral Expressway envisages to provide signal-free connectivity between Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gautam Budh Nagar (Greater Noida) and Palwal while the Western Expressway connects Kundli to Palwal via Manesar in Haryana.
