Delhi Police Bust gang of Pickpockets, 27 Smartphones Recovered!

New Delhi: The Delhi police have busted a gang of mobile phone thieves and robbers and recovered as many 27 mobile phones, and devices used by them to change the IMEI numbers.The arrested have been identified as Shahid ilyas (23), Jitendera (25), Deepak (27), Yunus Iliyas aged 28 years.

The busted gang involved in snatching of mobile phones/valuables and after changing their IMEI numbers, they further sold the stolen mobile phones through OLX website. Total 27 snatched/stolen mobile phones and one stolen motorcycle have been recovered and five cases of snatching/theft and five NCRs of different police stations of Delhi have been solved.

The police said that these men used to steal phones, tamper with their IMEI numbers and resell them at a higher price in the grey market of the national Capital.

Total 27 number of smartphones have been recovered. The Gang was quite active at bus stops. We get to know some information about them and The operation started specially at Sarita Vihar bus stop where pickpocket gang was active. We also get to know that they will divide the stolen smart phones at a particular place so we arrested them there. This Pickpocket gang has been already accused for attempt to murder and different robbery cases.”
