DELHI POLICE CRIME UPDATE – FOUR CHEATS ARRESTED

The Staff of PS Hari Nagar, West District has solved 10 sensational cases of PS Hari Nagar, Tilak Nagar and Moti Nagar and recovered 16 mobile phones, 02 watches, 11 bags and 02 suitcases. Four accused persons namely (1) Madan Kumar @ Dev s/o Ramji Mahto (2) Sanjay Ram s/o Pishori Ram (3) Anil Kumar s/o Mangnu Thakur and (4) Jai Prakash s/o Hari Narayan Mehto have been arrested.

INCIDENT, TEAM AND OPERATION:-

In the recent past number of innocents persons have been cheated for providing railway tickets on cheaper rates at various locations in the country. The accused used to cheat them and disappear with their luggage, money and mobiles etc. This gang was very active in the area of PS Hari Nagar and other police stations of West District also. The gang has targeted 07 peoples in the area of West District.

HC Om Prakash was tasked to collect intelligence and apprehend the gang. He has carefully examined the dossiers of the suspects with similar modus operandi and developed sources to gather information. On 05/06/14 HC Om Prakash received secret information from a reliable source that today one person namely Madan Kumar @ Dev along with his accomplices shall come near Om Sweets, Jail Road, Hari Nagar, Delhi. He shared this information with SHO Hari Nagar, Bhaskar Sharma.

Insp. Bhaskar Sharma immediately formulated a team consisting of ASI Nem Pal, HC Shashi No. 1471/W, HC Om Prakash No. 232/W, Ct. Sanjay No. 1542/W, Ct Biren No 1410/W. and Ct. Sandeep No 762/W. under the supervision of SI Manoj Kumar, IC PP/Hari Nagar. On the basis of information raid was conducted and four accused persons namely (1) Madan Kumar @ Dev s/o Ramji Mahto (2) Sanjay Ram s/o Pishori Ram (3) Anil Kumar s/o Mangnu Thakur and (4) Jai Prakash s/o Hari Narayan Mehto were apprehended.

On sustained interrogation they confessed their involvement in several cases of such cheatings in the area of whole Delhi. On their instance total 16 mobile phones, 02 watches, 11 luggage bags and 02 suitcases were recovered from their hide out i.e. H. No. E-309, JJ Colony, Khyala, Delhi. As a result total 10 cases of cheating in West District have been solved. Efforts are being made to connect the other recovered articles.

MOTIVE, MODUS OPERANDI AND INTERROGATION:-
On interrogation accused Madan Kumar @ Dev, gang leader, disclosed that he came to Delhi about 10 years back. He started working as daily wages labourer. He was not satisfied with his earnings as he used to work very hard and paid less. One day he met one Dinesh who also hails from his near by village. Dinesh proposed Madan about the plan of making quick money in short time. Madan and Dinesh started earning easy handsome money through this modus operandi. Dinesh used to pay him Rs. 300/- per day and used to take 50% as his share from the booty. By this time he gained expertise in this style of cheating. He made his own gang with the help of local immigrates of Sitamadi, Bihar and became the gang leader. They used to pose themselves as passengers carrying bags near railway stations.
They used to target for single passenger looking for a confirmed reservation for train going to Bihar. He used to lure the pray that his brother-in-law is TT in railways, who can help them to get a confirmed ticket. On the pretext of confirmed ticket they used to bring the target near to any reservation counter in the West District. There he used to take him with him leaving his bag with other gang members. Taking him to some distance he used to cheat the persons and flee with his cash and mobile phone. With this innovative modus operandi the gang has cheated more than 20 poor innocent persons.
