Delhi Police Detains 30 PFI Workers from Shaheen Bagh, Nizamuddin Area

New Delhi, 27 September 2022: Delhi police on Tuesday intensified its proble against PFI and undertook several raids across six districts detaining over 30 individuals under breach of peace.

A senior Delhi police official stated, “We have conducted raids at multiple locations in the national capital, including Shaheen Bagh and Nizamuddin. So far we have detained 30 people associated with the PFI.”

Sharing more details, Suman Nalwa, Delhi Police spokesperson informed that “It was a joint, coordinated action against PFI suspects. Thirty persons (have been) detained so far.”

A police official clarified that around 12.30 am, all the special cell teams arrived in the six districts of Rohini the south-east, the north-east, the central, and the outer. There, they met with the relevant DCPs. When the operation began, all of the concerned DCPs were asked to be present in their offices. At around 3 am, they conducted raids simultaneously in all of the districts.

This came after the NIA and other law enforcers carried out similar raids in 15 states and booked over 100 PFI workers who were allegedly involved in terrorist activities.

Regarding the searches, NIA had emphasised that following persistent input and evidence that the PFI leaders and cadres were involved in funding terrorism and terrorist activities and radicalising people to join prohibited organisations, the NIA registered five cases in connection with these searches at the homes and offices of the top PFI leaders and members.
