Delhi Police participated in a Global Police Station Visitors Week organized by an NGO called Altus Global Alliance, which is an alliance of NGOs from different countries. 1,340 police stations in 22 countries around the world participated in the Police Station Visitors Week, 2013. This Police Station Visitors Week initiative besides giving citizens the opportunity to become better acquainted with the police and giving police insight into how their services are evaluated, promotes human rights standards with local police reforms.

Police Stations which are rated most highly are recognized by the Altus Global Alliance and are encouraged to share the local practices and models that make police stations more citizen oriented nationally, regionally and globally.

45 Police stations in Delhi took part in the above Citizen’s Audit conducted during the Global Police Station Visitor’s Week 2013.  This was coordinated and conducted by the Vigilance Unit of Delhi Police.  It is a matter of pride that Barakhamba Road Police Station has been chosen as the top Police Station in Asia. Consequently, the then Station House Officer of Barakhamba Road Police Station  Inspr.  Satish Sharma  and Addl. DCP/New Delhi District Shri Madhur Verma  have been invited to the International Conference on Police Reforms: Progress and Challenges to be held on June 6, 2014 at Antigua, Guatemala, where they will be felicitated  for this achievement. They will also be making a presentation of all best practices adopted here in Delhi, at the Police Station Level.
