Delhi Police Responds to Delhi CM Kejriwal Tweets about increasing Crimes, Says heinous crimes down by 10 %

New Delhi: (24/06/2019) Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Delhi Police engaged in a war of words over the crime situation in the national capital.



Delhi CM Kejriwal took to Twitter to question the safety and security of Delhiites after an elderly couple and their helper was murdered at their residence in Vasant Vihar, saying the city had witnessed nine murders in the space of 24 hours. The Delhi Police comes under the purview of the central government

"Delhi is witnessing a dangerous spurt in serious crimes. An elderly couple and their domestic help murdered in Vasant Vihar. Nine murders reported in last 24 hours across the city. Whose door should be knocked for safety & security of Delhiites ?," Tweeted Kejriwal.

Dismissing Kejriwal Claims, Delhi Police said, there is a decrease in heinous crimes down by 10 % this year compared to 2018.

"No such increase in crime in Delhi. Overall heinous crimes down by 10 % this year compared to 2018. Similarly
heinous crime committed against senior citizens also down by 22% due to preventive efforts of Delhi police," Tweeted Delhi Police Tagging Arvind Kejriwal.

In an another Tweet, Delhi Police Wrote, "Also two of the three incidents of murder which Hon’ble CM @ArvindKejriwal is referring have been committed by family members or persons living in the house. Both cases are solved & accused arrested. In the Vasant Vihar case also entry is friendly and police has vital leads."
