DELHI TRAFFIC POLICE TRAFFIC ADVISORY: NEW YEAR EVE–2016

Delhi Traffic Police has made elaborate traffic arrangements throughout the city for the smooth flow and regulation of traffic on the eve of New Year. There will be well laid arrangements covering whole of Delhi where such celebrations shall be organized. Special arrangements have been made for the areas in vicinity of Connaught Place, New Delhi.

In addition to this, areas where arrangements have been made include Saket, M-Block Market Greater Kailash, Chirag Delhi, New Friends Colony, Defence Colony, South-Extn, Mehrauli, Aya Nagar Border, Khan Pur, Nehru Place near Eros Hotel, Govind Puri Metro Station, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Kapashera, Dwarka, Rajouri Garden, Netaji Subash Place, Rohini, Pitampura, Ashok Vihar, G.T. Karnal Road, Karkardooma, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar, Mayur Vihar Ph-I&II.

Following restrictions shall be imposed from 8.30 P.M. onwards on 31.12.2015 in the vicinity of Connaught Place till the conclusion of New Year Celebrations. It will be applicable to all private and public transport vehicles.

1. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed towards Connaught Place beyond (i) R/A Mandi House (ii) R/A Bengali Market (iii) North foot of Ranjit Singh Flyover (iv) Minto Road – Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg crossing (v) Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi Rly. Station) (vi) R.K. Ashram Marg-Chitragupta Marg Crossing (vii) R/A Gole Market (viii) R/A G.P.O., New Delhi (viii) Patel Chowk (ix) Kasturba Gandhi Road – Ferozshah Road Crossing (x) Jai Singh Road-Bangla Sahib Lane (xi) R/A Windsor place.

2. No vehicular traffic shall be allowed in inner, middle or outer circle of Connaught Place.

PARKING ARRANGEMENTS (For Connaught Place)

Motorists can park their vehicles at the following places in the vicinity of Connaught Place:-

(i) Near Gole Dak Khana on
(a) Kali Bari Marg
(b) Pt. Pant Marg
(c) Bhai Veer Singh Marg
(ii) Near Patel Chowk on Rakab Ganj Road behind AIR.
(iii) Near Mandi House on Copernicus Marg upto Baroda House.
(iv) Near Minto Road on D.D. Upadhaya Marg and Press Road area.
(v) Panchkuian Road on R.K. Ashram Marg, Chitragupta Road & Basant Road towards Pahar Ganj.
(vi) K.G. Marg near Ferozshah Road or K.G. Marg to ‘C’ Hexagon.
(vii) Near Windsor Place
(a) Rajender Prasad Road
(b) Raisina Road

Limited parking space will be available near Connaught Place on first come first serve basis. Unauthorizedly parked vehicles shall be towed away and prosecuted.

Traffic arrangements have also been made at the following places:.

Saket

1. Saket City Mall
2. PVR Saket

i) Restriction for buses and commercial goods vehicle on Press Enclave Road towards Select City Mall from traffic signals PTS Malviya Nagar, Aurobindo Marg, Malviya Nagar Metro Station and BRT (Press Enclave T-point) after 4 pm on 31.12.2015.
ii) Restriction for buses and commercial goods vehicle towards Saket from T-point M B Road – Pramod Mahajan Marg, J-Block traffic signal, M B Road and Asian Market, M B Road after 4 pm.
iii) No entry of vehicles for parking from both the back gates of Select City Walk Complex and will be used as exit gates only.
iv) No right turn or U-turn will be allowed on Khirki red light, Press Enclave Road after 4 pm.
v) No traffic will be allowed from Saket Court residential complex chowk towards Press Enclave Road after 4 pm.

Greater Kailash

Celebrations take place at some local markets and other areas also Need based diversions will be made in these areas. Extra staff has been deployed at these places.

SUGGESTED ROUTES

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes available for North – South and East – West directions.

For North-South movement-

 Ring Road from ISBT to Ashram or
 via Delhi Gate, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Mathura Road to reach Ashram and via vice-versa or
 via ISBT, Rani Jhansi Marg, Punchkuyan Road, Mandir Marg, Park Street, Mother Teresa Crescent Road & beyond or
 via Rani Jhansi Marg, Punchkuyan Road, Hanuman Murti, Ring Road.

For East – West Movement – Ring Road, Bhairon Road, ‘C’ Hexagon-India Gate, Akbar Road, Mother Teresa Crescent, R/A R.M.L, Park Street, Shankar Road.

New Delhi Railway Station –

 Entry from Connaught Place – Chelmsford Road shall be prohibited.
 Motorists can take Second Entry Gate of Ajmeri Gate side. They can reach the station via Pahar Ganj – Shiela Cinema or through Ajmeri Gate – J.L.N. Marg side via B.S.Z. Marg – Delhi Gate – J.L.N. Marg.

Special Checkings

 As per directions of Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety, in cases of over speeding, red light jumping, carrying persons in goods carriage, driving under the influence of drink and drugs and using mobile phone while driving a vehicle, apart from the other penal action, the driving license of the violator will also be suspended and impounded for not less than 3 months. During the suspension period, the driver will not be able to drive any vehicle.

 Special drive against drunken driving will be undertaken by the Traffic Police. Violators of drunken driving, apart from being fined upto Rs.2000/-, suspension of driving license and jail terms may also be awarded.

 Since 15.12.2015, special drive has been launched by Delhi Traffic Police in accordance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety. As per directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court Committee, the license of the violators of certain offences will be seized and suspended for a minimum period of three months. Since 15.12.2015, more than 13,000 licenses have been seized.

(i) In co-ordination with local police and PCR, special pickets to check stunts on motorcycles, over speeding, reckless driving, zig-zag and dangerous driving will be placed at vulnerable locations.

(ii) Two wheeler riders are advised to wear helmets and avoid triple riding. Violators will be prosecuted as per law.

Motorists are requested to observe the traffic laws and rules to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users. All are requested to cooperate with Traffic Police in these arrangements.
