March 9, New Delhi: Kailash Gehlot, the Delhi Transport Minister, has been assigned additional responsibility for the Women and Child Development Department.

It was earlier handled by Rajendra Pal Gautam who also holds the responsibility of the Department of Social Welfare.

The reshuffle of the Women and Child Development department comes at a time when Anganwadi workers and helpers have been protesting against the Delhi and Central governments since January 31, under the banner of the Delhi State Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union, demanding that the honorarium of Anganwadi workers be increased to Rs 25,000 and that of helpers to Rs 20,000.
