New Delhi, June 14, 2023: Harshit Bansal, a student of Aakash BYJU’s in Janakpuri Centre, had dreamt of becoming a doctor since his childhood and pursued his dream with prolific grit and focus. Harshit aced NEET UG 2023 scoring 715 out of 720 attaining an AIR of 13.

Harshit took coaching at different institutes in his early school life but when in Class IX he decided to pursue medical, he joined Aakash. His elder brother, who is currently pursuing MBBS at Maulana Azad Medical College, also prepared at Aakash. Harshit’s father is a businessman and mother is a homemaker and were very supportive during his preparation.  From an early age, Harshit drew inspiration from the stories of Dr. Trehan, a Cardiologist whohis father is close to. His father told him about the respectable profession and how his patients love and respect Dr. Trehan, which inspired Harshit to pursue the noble profession himself. He considers Dr. Trehan to be a role model. If not a Doctor, he would have pursued Engineering.

At home, Harshit’s day scholar brother helped him with late night studies and guided him on particular books and packages to study for NEET. Closer to tests, he focused on the NCERT books and used Aakash’s NCERT Maps to obtain a good command over the syllabus. Harshit faced eyesight issues and severe headaches in Class XI while studying online and spending a lot of time looking at the computer screens. His parents came forward to get him better spectacles with blue filters and his mother made sure he did his eye exercises every 5-10 minutes while studying. During preparation, he was stressed, and the course started to seem very boring which resulted in less studying. But when the intensive tests started, he dedicated himself to get back to his routine again.

Talking about his preparation, Harshit says, “There were times when despite all nighters and maximum effort my marks were not improving, and I felt demotivated. Before the exams the course started to seem boring and I felt saturated, and I even took days off from studying. But as the tests got more intensive, I got motivated to push one last time to do as best as I can and prepare with full focus for the last 45 days before NEET. My family and teachers encouraged me to stay motivated during the entire time.”

To relax in between studies, Harshit watched TV and played games on mobile phone. He also used to walk in the nearby park to refresh his mind.

At Aakash, Harshit liked the study material which is aligned with the papers. “The faculties were very good and dedicated to solve our doubts even till late at night and made sure nothing was missed or left unresolved. I found the NCERT Maps very helpful for my preparation. I studied the chapters and used the short notes before NEET to revise everything quickly.”
