New Delhi: The Delhi metro system is serving Delhi and its satellite cities of Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh in the National Capital Region of India for more than a decade now.

Many new lines of the Delhi Metro have been added in last few years and many more are in operation. With the completion of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Phase III expansion, the Indian capital’s metro rail system would become the fourth largest in the world with over 350 km of corridor.

On one side, Delhi Metro has been ranked one of the best among several international Metro systems in terms of providing services while on the other side,  the constant metro fare hike is causing financial blow to the people of Delhi and has also brought down the ridership of Delhi Metro.

On Wednesday, Ten News decided to speak to the Public of Delhi and specially Delhi Metro Commuters to know their Opinion about the metro fair hike in Delhi.

Speaking to Ten News, one of the Delhites said, “I use to travel from green park by spending Rs. 10. For eight years Delhi Metro didn’t increased their fare. But suddenly it went upto Rs. 30 for the same route. And now i’m paying Rs. 40 for a single route. It is very costly, which is forcing us to travel by bus.”

“There are so many problems due to hike in metro fare. We have to travel by bus because of this and have to face traffic problems as well. We as a student have a limited budget. We have to buy food, Books and other needy things so with metro fair hike it is impacting out budget. We demand discounts for the students.,” said another Delhi resident.
