“DENTAL UTSAV SETS THE BALL ROLLING FOR PATIENTS AND EVENTS”

 NEW DELHI: Dental Health Utsav ‘Delhi Smiles – 2016’ organized by Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) on the second day observed a wide variety of activities.

The main highlight of the Dental Health Utsav was “Free Dental Check up”. This service allowed general public to undergo dental screening by dental experts from the hospital. The first day saw a footfall of 703 patients and the second day saw an overwhelming response with 908 patients availing free dental check up services. The whole concept intends to promote dental health through early diagnosis and prompt treatment if needed. The doctors counseled the patients and motivated them to undergo necessary dental treatment and maintain adequate oral hygiene. Free toothpaste samples were distributed to all patients who underwent the dental check up to motivate them.

The Dental Health Exhibition organized to create awareness on “Wholesome Nutrition Healthy Teeth” as its theme. The exhibits and interactive sessions allowed general public to discuss issues with Doctors from MAIDS. The patients were amazed to know the relationship between “Poor Nutrition and Oral health” and also know the impact of junk food, obesity and tooth decay. There were interactive sessions during the exhibition for patients which allowed them to understand simple ways of improving their nutrition and maintain healthy and dentally healthy lifestyle.

Today’s highlight Guest lecture was by Dr Aruna Broota, psychologist, acclaimed mental health expert, revered people-transformation expert. Dr. Broota has over 4 decades of wow work equity with numerous scientific research breakthroughs, ongoing popular publications, well attended group motivation/training sessions, regular public counselling over radio, TV and print media and successful individual counselling practice makes her a uniquely experienced ‘Mind-Muscle, Personal Power’ expert. She enlightened the audiences mainly young and budding dentists and many patients in a friendly and interactive manner taking number of questions related to anxiety and dental care. She effortlessly synchronised the role of human thoughts, action, karma, retribution, and people-to-events connections in understanding one’s inner self.

Another high light of the day was the enthralling performance by Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar organised by “SPIC-MACAY”. She is a pioneer in the world of Indian classical dance and a much acclaimed Odissi dancer with a multidimensional personality. She is known as “a bridge to many cultures”. She lit up the stage with his mesmerising dance and her explanations regarding Lord Jaganath and related stories left a trail of spellbound audiences, who remained speechless and were transported to the mythological world

The second day also had a list of Inter-college Competitions mainly Nukkad Natak, Singing Competition and Fashion Show. Dental Colleges from Delhi NCR participated with full energy and fervour and made all the events filled with lot of fun and entertainment.

The performances by various teams in “Nukkad Natak” saw to it that they propagated social and political messages and generated awareness amongst the masses regarding current critical issues like female foeticide and Impact of demonetisation on the nation.

The Dental health Utsav now moves into the third day on 16th December 2016.
