New Delhi, 10th July 2023: The Supreme Court on Monday extended on medical grounds the interim bail granted to former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate until July 24.
Senior counsel Abhishek Singhvi, standing for Jain, was instructed by a bench of justices A S Bopanna and M M Sundresh to send the medical reports to Additional Solicitor General S V Raju.
Singhvi stated during the brief session that three hospitals had advised surgery for Jain.
This comes as earlier on May 26, the Supreme Court granted Jain temporary bail for six weeks on medical grounds, stating that a citizen has the right to obtain treatment of his choice at a private hospital at his own expense.
The ED arrested Jain on May 30, last year, on suspicion of money laundering through four entities reportedly related to him.
The agency apprehended Jain following a CBI FIR filed against him in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
