Dr. Rakesh Kumar also discussed the upcoming UP International Trade Show 2026 (UPITS 2026), Uttar Pradesh’s flagship annual trade exhibition, which serves as a world-class platform for handicrafts, ODOP products, and MSME enterprises from across the state. The fourth edition of the show is scheduled to be held from September 25 to 29, 2026, at India Expo Centre & Mart.

He informed the Minister that the third edition of UPITS was inaugurated by Narendra Modi and witnessed participation from nearly 500,000 visitors, including international buyers. Jointly organized by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and IEML, UPITS is regarded as one of the largest state-led trade shows in India.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar noted that the first three editions of UPITS have substantially enhanced Uttar Pradesh’s visibility among global buyers and played a key role in positioning the state as an emerging international sourcing hub.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rakesh Kumar said:

“Uttar Pradesh possesses immense strengths in traditional crafts, ODOP products, skilled artisans, and entrepreneurial talent. With stronger collaboration between the state government, industry bodies, and export promotion organizations, the state can achieve an even more prominent position on the global trade map.”

Bhupendra Chaudhary stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Government considers MSMEs, ODOP, handicrafts, and exports as key drivers of the state’s economic growth. He reiterated the government’s commitment to working closely with industry stakeholders, export promotion councils, and institutional partners to take the MSME sector to greater heights.

Uttar Pradesh is among India’s leading MSME states, and the sector is playing a crucial role in supporting the state’s ambitious goal of becoming a US$1 trillion economy. According to the state government, the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative has connected millions of artisans and entrepreneurs with markets, finance, and skill development opportunities, thereby accelerating employment generation and export growth.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to working together to establish Uttar Pradesh as a global hub for handicrafts, traditional products, MSME innovation, and export-oriented manufacturing.
