Dr. Udit Raj’s speech on the Delhi budget in Lok Sabha
July, 2014 : Dr. Udit Raj on Wednesday spoke about the
aDelhi Budget in Lok Sabha and thanked the Hon. Finance Minister for presenting a budget
that has pragmatically focused on the areas that require maximum attention in Delhi. “He
has not only paid enough attention on Delhi’s development in the Delhi budget but also in
the central budget, Allocation of 500 crores for solving the water crisis in Delhi will give a
major relief to people in Delhi”, Dr. Udit Raj said. Dr. Raj mentioned that North West Delhi
is the most backward constituency in Delhi and the provision of setting up a medical college
in Rohini shall majorly empower the constituency in the field of education and healthcare.
He added that it is shameful that it is only after the end of congress regime that a medical
college is being opened in my constituency. Dr. Raj requested Hon. Finance Minister to
consider the constituency’s demand of extending the metro to the areas of Nangloi,
Kutubgarh, Bhawana etc. He said if the metro can be extended to Faridabad, Haryana and
Palval, Cant it be extended to the areas of North West Delhi? Further he also said that the
LAL DORA region was extended 35 years ago but today the population there has doubled
and they are living in very congested houses. Therefore, the Lal Dora region must be
extended. Further with regards to the regularization of around 800 colonies, He said that
the High Court has already directed that even if colonies have not been regularized, they
must be provided with the basic amenities. He said that if the people have the right to be
born, then they also have a right to live somewhere. North West Delhi has a lot of
abandoned land, there is a lot of scope for foreign investment, I request the Central
Government to look into this and put the vacant lying land into productive use, he added.
Finally, he said that the provisions of 20 new proposed schools, introduction of 1380
new low floor buses, establishment of community toilets in JJ colonies will hugely benefit
Delhi and take us towards the path of long term development.
