New Delhi, 9th August, 2022: The Election Commission granted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state party recognition in Goa on the basis of a review of its performance in the February assembly elections, the AAP announced on Tuesday. In Delhi and Punjab, where it is currently in power, the party led by Arvind Kejriwal is already recognised as a state party.

Party national convenor Kejriwal stated, “After Delhi and Punjab, AAP is now a state recognised party in Goa too,” citing an official communication from the poll commission.

“We will formally be proclaimed as a national party,” he continued, “if we receive recognition in one more state.”

According to a letter from the Election Commission that Kejriwal shared on Twitter, the election panel recognised the AAP as a state party in Goa after reviewing the party’s performance in the assembly elections.

“The Aam Aadmi Party has fulfilled the requirements outlined in Paragraph 6A of the Election Symbols (Reservation & Allotment) Order, 1968 for recognition as a state party in the state of Goa, according to the EC’s letter.
