New Delhi, 4th May 2023: Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, is scheduled to return to Oxford University. The 33-year-old actress has enrolled at Oxford’s Creative Writing programme, where she will pursue her master’s degree.

Watson revealed in an interview with the Financial Times that she would be returning to Oxford University in September 2023. She elaborated in her interview with Financial Times, that during the COVID-19 lockdown, she began composing poetry and essays about love, friendship, relationships and other issues.

According to The Independent, Ms Watson previously attended Oxford as part of the Visiting Student Programme during the 2011-2012 academic year. The actress participated in the programme while deferring her degree at Brown University in order to focus on filming for the Harry Potter franchise.

Her creative writing class in the prestigious institute will begin in September of 2023. The actress has maintained a close relationship with Oxford University over the years. She was also appointed as a Visiting Fellow at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.

Recently Watson also talked about her five year hiatus from acting. According to Variety, Watson said that she “wasn’t very happy” and felt “caged” during her career as an actress.

The British performer said, “The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over. To stand in front of a film and have every journalist able to say, ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?’ It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process.”
