EPCH’s Khilona 2022 & GI Fair receive UP govt’s nod under ODOP scheme, here’s how exhibitors will benefit

July 25, 2022, Greater Noida – There has been special focus on promoting the brand of  ‘Handmade in India’, especially for items such as Toys and GI tagged products with a thrust on ‘Make in India’ initiative.  Keeping in view the significance of Toys industry and Geographical Indication (GI) tagged products, the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts is organising two parallel shows i.e. KHILONA -2022 (India Toys & Games Fair) and India GI Fair-2022 from 26-28 August,2022 at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, informed Rakesh Kumar, Director General EPCH.

Aimed at boosting toy manufacturing in India and improving its existing market potential & share, Khilona-2022, India Toy & Games Fair, a B2B fair, reflects a big vision and a bigger commitment for the future of the toy industry in the country and Khilona-2022 aims to fulfil the same. Bringing together an all-inclusive cross section of toy manufacturers from Country, Khilona-2022 (India Toys & Games Fair) From 26-28 August, 2022 at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida is one of its kind fair with Appeal, Usability, Learning and Commercial viability are among the product features at this toys exclusive business platform.

A geographical indication (GI) is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin. GI tagged products are “Invaluable Treasures of Incredible India” and aim to build confidence amongst the buying community. There are around 390+ products tagged as GI in the country. Uttar Pradesh is historically rich in crafts and 36 products are GI Tag registered in Handicrafts & Handloom from Uttar Pradesh. In order to support weavers/artisans/ producers of unique hand woven, handcrafted and agriculture products, the first India GI fair will also be organised concurrently from 26-28 August,2022 at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh

Rakesh Kumar Director General-EPCH informed that the Government of Uttar Pradesh has approved KHILONA -2022 (India Toys & Games Fair) and India GI Fair-2022 under its One District One Product (ODOP) scheme entitling the exhibitors participating in the fair to reimbursement of Stall Charges 75% upto a maximum of Rs.1,50,000/-; 75% of the charges upto a maximum of Rs.7,500/- towards Freight Charges from the production unit to the Fair/exhibition and  To & Fro Fare of A/c 3 tier or A/c Bus for one representative exhibitor. Kumar thanked the Government of UP for this gesture and hoped that with this initiative there will be larger participation of the exhibitor from the State of UP resulting in enhanced business opportunities for them and leading to employment generation.

EPCH is a nodal agency for promoting exports of handicrafts from the Country to various destinations of the world and projecting India’s image abroad as a reliable supplier of high quality handicrafts goods & services. The Handicrafts exports during the year 2021-22 was Rs. 33253.00 Crores (US $ 4459.76 Million) registering a growth of 29.49% in rupee term & 28.90% in dollar terms over previous year, informed Rakesh Kumar, Director General EPCH.
