Mumbai (Maharashtra), 15th May 2023: Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Monday emphasised that the government would take strict action against the people involved in instigating the riots and making the state unstable.
Fadnavis also told reporters in Pune that those promoting rioting would be exposed and that the administration would not let them succeed.
Notably, confrontations erupted on Saturday night in Maharashtra’s Akola city between members of two clans over a social media post. The violence killed one person and injured eight others, including two police officers.
In March, at least 12 people were injured, including 10 police officers, after a mob of 500 people flung stones and petrol-filled bottles at cops attempting to contain the scene following a dispute between two groups outside a Ram temple in the Aurangabad district’s Kiradpura village.
Some people and organisations indeed want the state to remain unstable, Mr Fadnavis stated. However, ‘the government will expose them and teach them a lesson.”
When asked about recent disturbances in two areas of the state, he stated, “Peace has been restored at the two places where riots occurred because police intervened at the right time.”
