After Atali in Ballabgarh, communal strife was reported in nearby Palwal district as people of two communities clashed and pelted stones at each other and also at the police which reached Teekri Brahman village to control the situation.

Several people, including policemen, have been injured in the clash but the exact figure was not known till the last report came in.

A petty issue between two families of different communities led to the clash on Sunday evening in Teekri Brahman village, inspector Narender Chauhan of crime branch Faridabad said. The situation deteriorated and the warring groups also pelted stones on the police party that had come to take control of the situation, he said.

Meanwhile, the police on Sunday arrested nine persons from communally-sensitive Atali village on charges of whipping up communal passion in the area, which witnessed two clashes recently. The arrests were the follow up to the May 25 violence in which several houses of the minority community were torched. These arrests were made against the FIR lodged on May 26. There are 19 FIRs lodged in the case naming about 50 men, said Mr Chauhan, inspector crime branch Faridabad.
