#Kidney racket: #Hospital owners withdraw anticipatory bail pleas

In yet another twist in the kidney scam, the owners of the National Kidney Hospital – Dr Rajesh Aggarwal and his wife Deepa Aggarwal – on Tuesday withdrew their anticipatory bail applications.

The working of the hospital under scanner after the city police claimed to have busted the kidney racket on July 31. The husband-wife dup had filed anticipatory bail pleas in the court on August 13, apprehending they may be arrested anytime by the police in the case.

Their lawyer withdrew the bail plea during a hearing in a local court without any argument.
On August 14, a local court had deferred the hearing in this regard to August 18, after the police reportedly failed to produce records before the magistrate.

The city police had arrested Junaid Ahmed Khan and Kuldeep Kumar, both residents of Faridabad in Haryana, Sabur Ahmed Khan and Vardan Chander Rao of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh in this connection on July 18.

Meanwhile, a local court on Tuesday deferred the hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of Sunil Kaul of Himachal Pradesh, who was shown as a kidney recipient, after his lawyer failed to produce his medical record. The next hearing has been scheduled to be held on August 25.
