FASII commemorates 115h Birth Anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee with Gen Dr V.K. Singh, Sh Rajendra Arlekar (Min for Panchayati Raj, Environment & Forest Govt of Goa) & others (1)

New Delhi, 6th July, 2016; To commemorate the 115th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, Independent India’s first minister for Industries, and economist and a visionary, Federation of Associations of Small Industries of India (FASII) organized a seminar on Role of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises in Indian’s roadmap towards Global Economic Superpower” today at C.D. Deshmukh Auditorium of India International Centre.

The seminar was presided by General (Dr.) V. K. Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, who while recollecting his personal experiences, laid emphasis on two aspects. Gen. (Dr.) Singh said, India needs to work enormously on two things, namely organisation and quality control that can directly influence India’s GDP since the the deciding factor in a country like ours is the role that small industries play”. In his speech he gave due importance to the existence of women entrepreneur and industrialists. Also serving as the Patron in Chief for FASII, General (Dr.) Singh, further added, The organisation has to work closely with skill development to reform the scenario entirely and taking it much closer to an India that every small or big entrepreneur needs”.

FASII, established in the year 1959, under the recommendation of Ford Foundation by the former Prime Minister Mr. Jawahar Lal Nehru as an apex body aimed towards proving guidance and upliftment to small industries of the nation. Taking a step in that direction staying our to FASII’s objective, Dr. S.P. Singh, Secretary General of FASII said, We are trying to speak to Reserve Bank of India to modify their policy to extend the time period of no activity from 90 days to 180 days and before they announce the enterprises’ account as non progressive”. Singh laid emphasis on the support of other government bodies as well to create a system where FASII can perform its role better.

Also present as the Chief Guest was Mr. Rajendra Aklekar, Minister for Panchayati Raj, Environment and Forest, Govt. of Goa laid emphasis on imbibing the principles of nationalist in Small Industries sector. While speaking in support of Indian small scale industrialists he said, People of India need to know about the difference and superior quality of products that Indian industrialists are offering as compared to those available in China”. Urging people to come in support for the same, he asked people to pledge their support towards products being made in India. He also promised support and guidance for FASII in Goa in order to organise a seminar of this magnitude along with regional outreach for the organisation.

Welcoming the views of dignitaries amidst others, Mr. K V Sekhar Raju, President of FASII, saidFASII is now on right track and given the guidance will surely bring about a flourishing change to the small industries sector”. Reconfirming his full support in matters pertaining to FASII’s operations and implementation, General (Dr.) V. K Singh said, This is the time that FASII should return to its former glory.” Others present in the panel were Mr. Shyam Jaju, National Vice President, Bhartiya Janta Party. Commemorating Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee’s efforts in favour of Industries and united India, General (Dr.) V. K. Singh further added, FASII should imbibe the same principles it was founded upon or being a voice for every perseverant and quality oriented small industrialist.”

Talking about the road ahead, Dr. S. P. Singh mentioned the letters they have sent to chief ministers of various states for their support and guidance in establishing a local FASII office. We will go to different states and organise more interactive seminars realising the problems and challenges faced by small scale industries”. On the occasion, what remained to be one of the highlight was the preview of a trailer ‘Black or White’ a documentary film made on the life of General (Dr.) V. K. Singh directed by Meenu Singh, produced by Meraki Inc. Many eminent and promising personalities from different sectors were also honoured on the occasion with medals and certificates.

A short film featuring the letters written to FASII while re-imagining the direction in relation to Dr. Shayama Prasad Mookerjee’s vision, by personalities like Sushma Swaraj, Hon’ble Minister for External Affairs, Sumitra Mahajan, Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr. Manohar Parrikar, Defence Minister, etc, was the talk of the day as it inspired many others to face the challenges and create opportunities for FASII’s both leading to the book in the small industries sector.
