Felicitation ceremony for Sportsmen organised by  ITBP

New Delhi,  12th April 2016 :- A felicitation ceremony  has been organized at Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP)  HQ for the players of various Central Sports Teams of ITBP who won medals in various international and national level sports championships.

  1. In his address Sh Krishna Chaudhary, DG ITBP praised the excellent performance exhibited by the players in various sports Championships and encouraged them for more hard work to win laurels for the Force and the Nation at international level competitions by their medal winning participation in such sports events.
  2. More than 70 players of 5 Central Sports Teams of ITBP who won medals  in various international and National level events and All India Police Duty Meets (AIPDM) were present on this occasion. 9 member Central Power lifting team won total 17 Medals in International Subrata Classic Power lifting Championship and 4 medals in dead lifting Championship. Ms. Thodam kalpana Devi, player of Central Judo Team won Gold medal in 12 South Asian Games (SAG) held at Guwahati and Shillong. 12 members Central Karate Team begged 4 Medals in Karate Association of India’s (KAI) National Karate Championship held at Kochi (Erunakulam).
  3. ITBP Hockey team won Gold medal for the first time in 64th All India Police Hockey Championship-2015 held at Guwahati. Similarly, Ice Hockey Team of ITBP  won Bronze Medal in 7th National Ice Hockey Championship held at Leh, Gold Medal and Overall championship in Jammu Kashmir Ice  Hockey Championship and Overall Championship in CEC Ice Hockey Championship. Wrestling Team of ITBP won Silver Medal in Senior  National Wrestling Championship held at Delhi.
  4. 11 Members Archery Team of ITBP won 23 Medals during 4th AIPAM held at Dimapur. Water sports team won total 8 Medals in National rowing Championship held at Hyderabad. Commando Team of the Force won Bronze medal in 6th AIP Commando Championship-2015 held at BSF Academy Tekanpur. Thus, ITBP has won total 189 Medals in various sports Championship during the year 2015-16 which is a record.
  5. On the direction of DG ITBP, one month pre- selection training is being imparted to the talented  sportsmen and women selected from various training institutes under talent hunt program so that second generation teams of various sports may be prepared.
  6. ITBP has won glory in Adventure Sports over the years. ITBP is primarily a border guarding Central Armed Police Force of the Union which guards frosty Indo-China Border since inception in 1962. Its units are also deployed in Naxal affected areas, UN security mission in Congo and also deployed in Afghanistan to provide security to Indian Embassy in Kabul and Indian Consulates.
