Mumbai, 18th June 2023: A day before the Shiv Sena’s foundation day, Uddhav Thackeray’s faction is hosting a major meeting of its office bearers in Mumbai.
This is the Shiv Sena’s (UBT) first huge event since Eknath Shinde defied Mr Thackeray and became the state’s chief minister with BJP support.
The plenary is being held in Worli, the Assembly constituency of Thackeray’s son, and former state minister Aaditya Thackeray. The Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray factions are also preparing to commemorate the Shiv Sena’s foundation day tomorrow at two distinct places in Mumbai.
While Shinde’s Shiv Sena will host their rally at the NESCO venue in Goregaon, northwest Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (UBT) will hold its event in Sion’s Shanmukhanand Hall.
Shinde’s insurrection against Thackeray caused the Shiv Sena to split in June of last year. Later, the Election Commission of India (ECI) accepted his faction as the genuine Shiv Sena and gave it the party name and the ‘bow and arrow’ emblem.
