: A large number of people who have bought flats in projects along the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR), also known as the Gurgaon-Dwarka Expressway, held a protest at Jantar Mantar here on Sunday, demanding immediate completion of the road, which has already missed over half-a-dozen deadlines leading to connectivity issues and delay in completion of residential and commercial projects. The protest was organised under the aegis of DXP Welfare Association, an umbrella organisation of several associations of flat owners along the Gurgaon-Dwarka Expressway. “More than 70,000 home buyers have purchased their dream home in that area. Some of them have already got possession, however, lack of basic amenities and connectivity is a problem. Most of them are eventually bearing the burden of rent as well as EMI,” said Pradip Rahi, general-secretary of DXP Welfare Association. Some of the demands include written assurance from the National Highways Authority of India and Haryana Urban Development Authority for completion of Dwarka Expressway, intervention for expediting the clearance of land litigation which is coming in the way of the Expressway including New Palam Vihar area.

Meanwhile, the Dwarka Expressway oustees also held a protest at New Palam Vihar in Gurgaon demanding immediate allotment of plots to them in Sector 110A. “We will not allow the work on Expressway to start till we are alloted plots and given physical possession. The government does not have enough land to give us plots and is fooling us,” said area councillor Rishi Raj Rana, who is spearheading the agitation..
