Greater Noida :  Inaugurating the India Toy Fair 2021 on Saturday Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the India Toy Fair 2021 is going to be a major step in the journey towards building an AatmaNirbhar Bharat and strengthen the age-old traditions of the country.

The ceremony took place digitally, and PM Modi inaugurated the fair at 11 am via video conferencing attended by Minister of Textiles Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani,  Nitin Gadkari-MSME Minister,  Piyush Goyal-Commerce Minister and Harsh Vardhan-Health Minister and others.

During the event PM also interacted with different toymakers who joined him via video conferencing from different parts of the country. While interacting with Channapatna Toy Clusters who have been in the business for 200 years and said “You are reminding me of my childhood days,”.

PM Modi said that most Indian toys are made from natural and eco-friendly items the colours used in them are also natural and safe. He appealed to Indian toy manufacturers to make toys that are better for both ecology and psychology with things that can be recycled.

PM urged toymakers to try e-markets & newer ways to sell their products and take their products global

This tradition began from the times when katputli acts were popular in India.

Katputli acts can focus on how to educate children about Covid precautions, says PM Modi during the interaction.

PM urged toymakers to try to make toys that resonate with children and their actions like designing dolls wearing masks, using sanitisers.

All toys being designed in India are eco-friendly and creative, says PM Modi.

Make toys which help ecology as well as psychology. Manufacturers should design them using recyclable material.

People from across the nation have researched the toys of Sindhu valley and Mohenjodaro. Indian chess is famous across the globe .

There is so much strength hidden in the toy industry of our country. Increasing this strength & increasing its identity is a big part of AtmaNirbhar Bharat campaign.

Minds cannot be developed with just bookish knowledge. Practical knowledge is essential.

Most Indian toys are made from natural & eco-friendly items, the colours used in them are also natural & safe – PM Modi.

PM Modi: We have to make our country self-sufficient (AtmaNirbhar). We have to design toys at par with international standards.

National Toy Action Plant has also been made to support India in developing its toy market, says PM Modi.

The demand is going up for ‘handmade’ in India, says PM.

 

The fair, which will conclude on March 2, aims to bring together all stakeholders including buyers, sellers, students, teachers, designers on a virtual platform to create sustainable linkages and encourage dialogue for the overall development of the toy industry, the Prime Minister’s Office earlier said in a statement.
