Former IMA chief Prof. Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar re-elected to World Medical Association
Prof. Dr Ravindra Sitaram Wankhedkar, Past National President of Indian Medical Association hailing from Dhule, Maharashtra has been re-elected to World Medical Association as its Treasurer, for a period of two years – 2021 to 2023, by the body of 113 nations during the 217th Council Session held virtually at Seoul, South Korea.
Claiming his success as the success of Indian Medical Association and its increasing role in WMA, Dr. J A Jayalal, National President IMA and Dr. Jayesh M Lele, Honorary Secretary General of IMA said that IMA has been a Founder Member of WMA ever since 1947. IMA plays an active role in formulating the policies of the world body under the able guidance of Dr. Ketan Desai, Past National President, IMA and Past President, World Medical Association.
It should not be forgotten to mention here that in such a pandemic situation all over the world, Dr. Wankhedkar has consecutively been re-elected as Treasurer, WMA which shows his pure dedication not only towards this profession but also towards the humanity of the world.
Prof. Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar is an anorectal surgeon practicing in his own hospital along with his wife Dr. Meena Wankhedkar in Dhule, Maharashtra.
Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar thanked the members of WMA and leadership of IMA for reposing faith in him for another term as Treasurer and said that he will strive for global cooperation amongst doctors through WMA as it is most essential in this pandemic to promote health equality.
