New Delhi (India), 4th June 2023: Union Minister Piyush Goyal said he considered cancelling the third meeting of the Startup20 Engagement Group, which was scheduled to begin in Goa on Saturday as part of India’s G20 presidency due to the ghastly Odisha accident. But he states that he decided against it out of respect for the delegates’ time.

On Friday evening, a three-train derailment-collision catastrophe in Balasore, Odisha, killed more than 280 people and injured almost 1,000 more.

Goyal expressed his condolences to those killed and injured in the Odisha accident during the inaugural occasion of the StartUp 20 event, which will take place over two days and conclude on Sunday.

Goyal said, “I had thought of cancelling today’s engagement but I thought since we have 200 delegates from more than 15 countries it would be respectful to your time, your efforts to continue with the engagements.”

Startup20 is an excellent opportunity to develop collaboration, exchange ideas, and define the future of start-ups and entrepreneurship on a worldwide scale, with the primary goal of the summit being to get agreement on the start-up Draught Policy Communique.

According to Goyal, the Goa Sankalpana event would look at how start-up eco systems from other nations may be combined.
