Galgotias University Students Honored with Prestigious Arjuna Award by President Murmu

Galgotias University takes immense pride as three of its students were recently honored with the esteemed “Arjuna Award” by the President of India. The award ceremony, held on January 17, 2025, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Darbar Hall, recognized the outstanding achievements of these students at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

Rakesh Kumar, a Bachelor of Arts student, secured a bronze medal in archery, while Preeti Pal, an MBA student, earned two bronze medals in the 100-meter and 200-meter races. Simran Sharma, an MA student, also clinched a bronze medal in the 200-meter race. These remarkable athletes demonstrated extraordinary perseverance and skill in their respective events, bringing pride to their nation and to Galgotias University.

During the ceremony, the President personally acknowledged the athletes, who accepted their awards while supported by wheelchairs and crutches. Their journey from rural areas to international recognition exemplifies the power of hard work, determination, and dedication.

Sunil Galgotia, Chancellor of Galgotias University, congratulated the athletes, emphasizing their remarkable success and the inspiration they provide to millions of young people. Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of the university, also extended his gratitude to the athletes’ families, coaches, and the university’s sports team, recognizing their vital contributions to these athletes’ achievements.
