GHAZIABAD: The son a Muradnagar-based scrap dealer, who was missing and had bee feared kidnapped, was found dead by on Tuesday in a canal in Baghpat, police said on Tuesday. The Class X boy had gone missing from Modinagar on May 30.

Cops said Aamir’s body had been preserved as ‘unidentified’ in a mortuary in Baghpat after it was discovered on Sunday. A team of Ghaziabad Police brought his body to his hometown Muradnagar on Tuesday and handed it over to his family, who buried it thereafter. Baghpat Police claimed they had found the body in the Chandi Nagar police station area of the district on Sunday.

“The body was found lying in a dried-out water canal in a jungle near Dhikoli. It was recovered after police were informed by locals around 6.30 pm on Sunday, and was kept in a mortuary after autopsy. Ghaziabad Police were handed over the body on Tuesday,” Vidya Sagar Mishra, ASP, Baghpat, said.

Aamir, the son of a Muradnagar-based scrap dealer Meenu Malik, had been allegedly kidnapped on May 30 when he had reportedly gone to his school to meet his teachers following the Class X CBSE results that he had passed. His abandoned Swift Dzire car had been found near the Kazampur railway crossing, following which a police complaint was lodged.

Meenu had told TOI on Monday that there was no ransom call after his disappearance. What has further added to the mystery is the fact that Aamir’s post-mortem report has been inconclusive about the cause of death. “The viscera has been preserved and will be sent for further examination,” added Mishra.

Ghaziabad Police, meanwhile, have failed to join the dots between the time, when he went missing, to the time, his body was recovered. Police said Section 302 (murder) of the IPC would be added to the FIR . “The surveillance report of his cell phone has been procured. His last location was Muradnagar Kasba on Saturday evening, after which his cell phone wasSWITCHED off. We are questioning persons with whom he had last spoken before he went missing,” said DSP Jagat Ram Joshi, circle officer of Modinagar.
