GHAZIABAD: The body of Class X student Aamir Malik, who went missing on May 30 from Modinagar and was found dead in Bhagpat a day later, has been exhumed for a second autopsy, after the first autopsy was inconclusive. The family also claimed that the first report was inaccurate, as it made no mention of the injuries on his body, and described his age as 27 years instead of 16.

The order to exhume the body was issued by the Ghaziabad district administration, following a plea by his family that they were unsatisfied with the earlier one conducted in Baghpat.

Son of a Muradnagar-based scrap dealer, Aamir had been allegedly kidnapped from Modinagar on May 30. His body was found in a Baghpat canal a day later. Ghaziabad Police fished out the body and preserved it in a Baghpat mortuary as ‘unidentified’, before handing it over to his family after identification on Tuesday. Aamir was buried the same day.

On Thursday, father Bashir Malik claimed he received the medico-legal case (MLC) report, registered in Baghpat, only a day after his burial. “The post-mortem report was hazy on all accounts. The cause of death had not been ascertained. Even Aamir’s age had been mentioned as 27. The guys arrested, Zaid and Sagar, earlier used to study with Aamir in his school. They belong to the same locality as ours and were his close friends. There’s no reason why they would kill Aamir. The issue of Aamir borrowing money from them to place bets on IPL matches is unconvincing,” Malik told TOI. On Wednesday, Ghaziabad Police had arrested Zaid Abbasi and Sagar Tyagi from Muradnagar on charges of killing and disposing Aamir’s body, before abandoning his car in Modinagar.

The dead body was exhumed on Thursday in the presence of locals, police and family members. It was handed over to the police for autopsy. The exercise was conducted in the presence of Modinagar sub-divisional magistrate Yashu Rustagi.

Acting DM of Ghaziabad, Krishna Karunesh, told TOI that Aamir’s family had moved a plea for the second autopsy. “The family had alleged that while photographs showed injuries on Aamir’s body, the post-mortem report made no mention of them,” Karunesh told TOI.

Later on Thursday, the body was brought back to Muradnagar and buried again. “The second autopsy report will take a couple of days to arrive. Aamir’s viscera has been preserved and will be sent to Agra for further analysis,” said DSP Jagat Ram Joshi, circle officer, Modinagar.
