GHAZIABAD: The district of Ghaziabad tops the crime table in UP Police`s Meerut zone, with 135 cases of kidnapping and abduction within the past three months. This came to light in a high-level meeting convened on Tuesday by Alok Sinha, commissioner, Meerut zone, and attended by top-ranking police officers of all the zones. “It was a routine meeting in the law and order situation and with respect to Ghaziabad, we noticed that incidents of kidnapping and vehicle theft have risen in the past three months as compared to the corresponding periods in the past two years,” Sinha said. According to recent crime statistics, 135 cases of kidnapping have been reported between April 1 and June 30, whereas last year during the same period there were only 121 cases of kidnapping. The figure stood at 85 in the year 2013. “I have asked the Ghaziabad SSP to take measures to check vehicle theft and kidnappings,” Sinha said.
