#Ghaziabad: Residents to plant 2,000 saplings this yr to ‘go green’
Gulshan Sadana, a resident of Kaushambi, has begun his annual drive of treeplantation in association with the Kaushambi Apartments Residents Welfare Association (Karwa) with an aim to make Kaushambi, the greenest area in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Environment lovers in the area are taking advantage of monsoon and planting trees in their neighbourhood. They utilize their weekends in identifying perfect spots for treeplantation, creating awareness about its benefits and encouraging the young and old to plant trees.
“Monsoon is the best time to plant trees. I have been doing this from past nine years and have planted hundreds of trees. I started alone but with time I started to receive support from residents of multistoreyed apartments. One can see the drastic increase in the green cover after we launched the mission to make Kaushambi the greenest in national capital region,”said Sadana , a resident of Kaushambi, who has a realestate business.
The drive begins in July and goes on till September.
The residents aim to plant 2000 trees this year in the society complex, parks and the barren green-belts.
“Any individual or a company can adopt a plant by paying Rs 750 which includes a sapling, wooden tree guard, cost of labourer and maintenance. The purpose is not to earn money but to involve people and evoke a sense of belonging,” said Sadana.
Residents of Vasundhara also planted trees on Saturday which were distributed for free by a private company.
