#Jat body protests for inclusion in OBC quota

GHAZIABAD: Seeking benefits of reservation under OBC category, the district unit of Akhil Bhartiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti held demonstrations on Monday at the district collectorate and the UP Gate.

They also submitted a memorandum to the President Pranab Mukherjee through the Ghaziabad district administration.

According to Jat leaders, the protests were against a Supreme Court’s decision to scrap a notification granting the status of OBC to the community.

“OBC candidates who had been selected for various central government jobs before the apex court quashed the notification on March 17, be provided appointment letters. The centre should formulate a legislation to include Jats under OBC category,” said district president Narendra Choudhary.
