Galgotias Ad

A solid waste treatment facility near Siddharth Vihar off NH-24 in Ghaziabad is likely to begin operation from the first week of March.

The facility, which will have the capacity to process about 300 metric tonnes of solid waste daily, will be handed over to the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) in the last week of February.

It will be constructed by a subsidiary agency of UP Jal Nigam at a cost of around Rs 4 crore. Funds for the project have been made available to the agency by the municipal corporation.

The facility may provide interim relief to the city in terms of handling of solid waste till a proposed state-of-the-art solid waste plant, planned to be set up in Dundaheda area, begins functioning.
