Ghaziabad’s Swachh campaign in the bin after Diwali

GHAZIABAD: It took 21 days for the hype surrounding Narendra Modi’s ‘Swacch Bharat’ campaign to fizzle out. Bearing testimony to this is the pile of garbage and remnants of burnt crackers strewn all over the city a day after Diwali.

Ramesh Chand, 50, who lives in Indirapuram and is a regular morning walker, said, “I expected the morning after Diwali to be a bit different this year. But it was like any other year. The park I visit looked like a garbage vat. I had to a beat a hasty retreat.” He asked, “I wonder where the people’s missionary zeal has vanished?”
