In a shocking news from Delhi’s Mayur Vihar phase-3 area, a 13 year old girl has been denied admission in a reputed school for the sole reason of not having enough hairs.

The girl named Anshita Gupta seeking admission in the Vanstahali Public School had appeared for the test and has also given oral interview as per the schools procedure.

The girl suffers from a medical condition called ‘alopecia’ that makes her shed large amount of hairs.

Ten News spoke to girls mother Mansi Gupta who confirmed that her child has passed the exam and was awaiting to join the school from upcoming session. Indeed the school had reservations regarding the child having less hairs on her head.

Child’s mother also informed us that the school had asked for few days to think on admission confirmation even after completion of all formalities.

However on Thursday morning when girls grandmother reached school for the enquiry on the matter, she was informed by the vice-principal that school can not admit her granddaughter due to disciplinary issues that her appearance might create.

In today’s era when the government is leaving no stone unturned to promote girl child education such incidents must be strictly condemned.

Any further update from school’s side is still awaited.
