National, Dec 14, 2022: USA has released a statement following the India-China Tawang clash which erupted on the December 9. The White House in a statement has stated that “we are glad both sides quickly disengaged from the clashes.”

Earlier, PLA and Indian soldiers had a stand-off at the Tawang region of the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Around 300 Chinese troops had gathered near the LAC on December 9 to take control over the peak of a 17,000-feet-high mountain in the first clash between the troops since they faced off near Galwan Valley in June 2020.

The clash had resulted in injuries on both sides and commanders holding a flag meeting later to restore peace according to pre-ordained systems.

The Pentagon has further stated that the US Department of Defense is keeping track of the developments along the line of actual control (LAC) at the India-China border in Tawang as the People’s Republic of China (PRC) continues to assemble forces and erect military infrastructure along the contested border.

The Pentagon also said that the US fully backs India in its efforts to bring the situation under control.

China’s first statement pertaining to the stand-off has come, with its Foreign Ministry saying that the situation on its border with India is “stable”.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin shared: “As far as we understand, the situation on the China-India border is overall stable. “Continuous talks are going on, on the border issue through diplomatic and military means.”
